Ergonomic baby carrier with wide leg position

The ergonomic Baby Carrier One is equipped with a sturdy waist belt and padded, form-fitting shoulder straps to make it comfortable for carrying a growing child from newborn up to the age of three years. The waist belt allows you to support the child’s weight on your hips, and avoid back and shoulder discomfort. You can vary between four ergonomic carrying positions throughout the period of use, with your child sitting in either the normal or wide leg position.

Features and benefits

Four front and back carrying positions

Optimal height position for newborns. There is a special inward-facing carrying position for newborns to allow you to carry your baby high up on your chest and close to your heart. This provides you with eye contact and all-important closeness, while allowing you to monitor your child’s breathing.

Lower height position for older babies. After about four months, it’s time to start using the lower height position. For added comfort, you can adjust the width of the leg openings in the inward-facing position.

Outward-facing option. From five months onwards, you can fold the head support down and carry your child in an outward-facing position, or switch between the two. At this age, the child’s neck, hips and spine are sufficiently developed for the child to be carried in this position. Babies delight in discovering the world while safely resting against mum or dad’s chest.

Simple and secure back carrying position from 12 months. With the child facing inwards, swivel the whole baby carrier from front to back. The shoulder straps will remain on your body like a closed loop, ensuring that your child is secure during the process. Simple, safe and comfortable – all in one easy movement. Max. 15 kg/100 cm.

Perfect for newborns – inbuilt infant insert

The ergonomic Baby Carrier One is anatomically designed to adapt to the changing needs of your growing child and is perfect for newborns. This means you don’t need any infant insert in the baby carrier for your newborn baby in the early days.

Upright position

The upright position keeps airways free and allows you to monitor your baby’s breathing.

Free arms and legs

Legs and arms can move freely in the Baby Carrier One, allowing your child to develop muscles, motor skills and balance.

Outward-facing option

We recommend that you carry your child facing you for the first five months. Once your child’s neck, back and hips are strong enough, you can start carrying your child facing either inwards or outwards. Most babies delight in discovering the world while safely resting against your chest.

My husband and I were first time parents 18 months ago and had no idea what carrier to register for. There are about a million different ones and we were pretty lost. We figured the only way to make a decision was to try them ALL out. So we ended up trying the ergo, ergo 360, original baby bjorn, lillibaby complete, moby, ring sling, baby katan and a sling by seven slings. Here's what we loved/didnt like about each.

Original ergo: LOVED the pocket. Hated that baby couldn't face out and see the world when she was older.

Ergo 360: I really loved it but it was much harder for me to put on and take off because the ergo uses buttons instead of the clips like those used on the baby bjorn. Also, the baby bjorn one felt a little sturdier to me. Finally, we liked the baby bjorn one more because we didn't need a separate newborn insert like you need for the ergo.

Baby katan: didn't feel sturdy to me. And it stretched out the longer I wore it so I felt like baby wasn't really secure.

Original baby bjorn: we loved it because it was a little smaller than the One but we really liked the waist strap on the one so the babies weight is evenly distributed.

Moby wrap: wayyyy to much fabric! Too hot for the south and too much of a learning curve for me. I wanted something easier to put on and take off.

Lillibaby complete: too bulky for me and I found it difficult to take on and off alone.

Seven slings: NO stretch. Didn't look comfy for baby and definitely wasn't comfy for me.

Long story short, the baby bjorn one felt sturdiest to us, we loved the clips versus buttons, it wasn't complicated to put on and take off, and it was the most comfortable to wear. Also, it fit my husband and I both really well even though he is 6'4 and I'm 5'2. It was VERY easy to adjust for our respect We now have an almost two year old and we still hike with her in the baby bjorn one. Expecting baby #2 and excited to be able to use this carrier from the start with no need for a newborn insert!

We bought this a couple of weeks ago it's a great help due to me being home alone with my two kids all the time, a medically challenged developmentally disabled two year old whos a handful and my new two month old, but it'd be even better if it had a pocket for your phone and a few odds and ends like money and a couple of places you could attach things too such as the binkie and a toy. Also it shouldn't pick up or show dirt so easy we have a cat and I'm embarrassed going out with it because it shows the hair so much.

Does this cut off blood supply to the baby's legs?

By

from Crawley, UK

About Me Parent of Two or More Children

Pros

    Cons

    • Child's legs turned blue and cold

    Best Uses

    • Need more feedback to our observations.

Reserve further comment until we have feedback. We suspect that the "seat" is too broad and cuts off the blood supply to the legs of small infants as they dangle, unsupported.
Have observed this on another unrelated child, whilst in similar seat.

Fits well, but could be improved

About Me Active, First Time Parent, Working Parent

        Pros

        • Generally comfortable
        • Versatile

        Cons

        • Does not fit small-framed parents
        • Hard to set up back-facing option

        Best Uses

I have a smaller frame and hard a hard time finding a good carrier that fit me comfortably. This one works ok for me when baby is on my front, but I have to tighten the shoulder straps as far as they'll go, and I wish they would tighten an inch more!

Also, it is VERY difficult to use the baby-on-back option. The strap that holds the shoulder straps together needs to have a releasable clasp. Also, for me, the shoulder straps need to be tighter when baby is on back. His center of gravity is too low, so I constantly feel like I have to lean forward. Not comfortable! Please improve.
