Designed with Safety Expertise

When it comes to your baby’s sleep, safety comes first – and always will. That’s why we’ve been partnering with emergency physician and child-safety expert Dr Mark Brandenburg for 20 years during the development of our sleep range.
Dr. Mark Brandenburg
“At BabyBjörn, medical experts have seats at the leadership table when designing new products. It is this long-standing, steadfast commitment to child safety that sets BabyBjörn apart from others, and has been key to creating so many safe and wonderful baby products through the years. I am proud be a part of the BabyBjörn team.”
Here’s some of the features that make our sleep products a safer choice.
)
Soft, breathable, see-through mesh sides
Unlike hard slats that babies can bump into or get stuck between, our mesh sides offer excellent airflow and a soft, cushioned surface for tiny hands, feet and heads.
)
Sturdy, non-tipping bases
Built to stand firmly, even when older siblings or curious pets are nearby.
)
Soft, cushioned surfaces
Every touchpoint on our cribs and cradles is thoughtfully padded to create a cosy sleep environment but also add an extra layer of safety by softening any accidental bumps as your baby moves or stretches.
)
Fitted or integrated mattress
Our cribs and cradles feature a fitted or integrated mattress, each designed for your baby’s safety and comfort. The fitted mattress is snugly tailored to eliminate gaps and create a secure, flat sleep surface. The integrated mattress is securely attached to the crib’s sides, preventing gaps where tiny arms or legs could get caught.
)
Fitted sheets
Our fitted sheets are designed to stay perfectly in place, reducing the risk of loose fabric bunching up while your baby sleeps. Plus, they’re made from soft organic cotton that is gentle on delicate skin.
)
Secure, locking frames
Our cribs and cradles feature a locking mechanism that keeps the frame securely in place, no matter how much your baby moves or wiggles.
)
Soft shapes with smooth, rounded edges
No sharp corners here – just smooth, rounded edges to reduce the risk of bumps and injuries.
)
No catch points or pinch points
We’ve eliminated any small gaps or openings that could pose a risk to little fingers or toes. Every detail of our design is carefully crafted to prevent accidental pinches or snags, letting your baby explore their surroundings safely as they grow.
And because we know peace of mind is everything:
Our cribs and cradles meet the rigorous ASTM F406 safety standards.
Our cribs, cradles and mattresses meet the rigorous EN 716 and EN 16890 safety standards.
The textiles are certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, Class 1 for baby products, so they’re gentle enough for even the most sensitive skin – and safe enough to taste (because you know your baby will).
How We Make Sleep Safe for Your Baby
Ever wondered how we create those safe, comfy cribs and cradles you love? It’s all about teamwork. Our engineers sit down with Dr Mark Brandenburg for interactive sessions. Together, they inspect and review every detail of our cribs and cradles – testing designs, discussing safety standards and making improvements grounded in Dr Brandenburg’s decades of clinical experience and child-safety knowledge. These hands-on sessions ensure that every product is designed with the highest safety standards to keep your little one sleeping soundly.
